Role:  Logistics Manager

Location: Harare/Johannesburg

Job Description

• • Identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products and services
  • Seek out the appropriate contact in an organisation
  • Generate leads and engage with prospective customers
  • Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these
  • Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business
  • Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes
  • Draw up client contracts
  • Have a good understanding of our haulage services and be able to showcase them
  • Train members of the logistics team and arrange external training where appropriate
  • Introduce and discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department
  • Liaise with the finance team, warehousing, logistics and the workshop as appropriate
  • Seek ways of improving business operations
  • Organise and attend regional transport & logistics seminars, conferences and events
  • Keep abreast of Supply Chain trends and changes in the SADC regional

Person Specification:

• Must be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably a member of the Institute of Supply Chain Management
• Must have strong understanding of how a business operates and successful candidates will have a proven track record demonstrating their understanding of Transport and Logistics in the SADC region
• General management experience is essential for working in this job.
• Excellent networking and negotiation skills a must 
• Must be able to deliver the highest standards of customer service.
• The ability to recruit staff and monitor performance.
• Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, including people-management, leadership and both written and verbal communication skills.
• A full clean driving licence.
